LIMA, Ohio (WLIO) — Mercy Health St. Rita's Medical Center is taking steps to provide a much-needed service for teens in the region.
The building at 969 North St. will become the future site of the hospital’s adolescent behavioral health partial inpatient facility. Hospital leaders say the program will meet a critical need by offering structured support for teens who require more than outpatient services but do not need full hospitalization.
The partial inpatient program will allow adolescents to remain connected to their daily lives while receiving treatment, offering a balance between intensive care and maintaining routines at home and school.

Mercy Health officials believe this level of care is essential for families across the region, many of whom currently travel outside the area for treatment options.
“We're welcoming them to come and bring their youth there that may be having some challenges in their mental health, behavioral health, because we are noticing that a lot of families are traveling to places like Toledo, to Dayton and to Columbus to get the assistance that they need. And so we want to keep everything here in the heart of Lima,” said Anisha Hale, foundation gift officer for Mercy Health St. Rita’s.
Funds raised at the hospital’s annual Red Door Gala this year will support renovation and startup costs for the new adolescent behavioral health facility. The gala is scheduled for June 11, and organizers are currently seeking sponsors for the event.
