Councilman Derry Glenn announced plans on Sunday to find funding and partners that can restore the South Main Street corridor to the booming business area it once was. He is speaking to multiple property owners who are trying to redevelop vacant buildings but need a little boost to get new businesses off the ground. Glenn says that years ago, that section of the street was home to a drug store, bank, restaurants, and stores that sold almost anything people living nearby could need.

"So we had all that here, and just this area was a one-stop shop. So we want to make it like that again. Very economical; you will make the money if your business comes here. I'm going to try to meet with everybody I can. I will be meeting with the chamber; I'll be meeting with some of the bankers, assisting some of the people who own these buildings and are trying to get help," Councilman Glenn explained.

Glenn will also propose to the council that city grant funds be used to help the building owners on South Main.
