MERCER COUNTY, OH (WLIO) - A Mendon man was killed in Mercer County after his van struck a semi coming the other way. 49-year-old Travis Fox died during the crash.
According to Sheriff Jeff Grey, the crash happened just after 5 a.m. Tuesday morning on U.S. 127 just north of Dutton Road. They say Fox was heading north when he traveled left of center and ran into a semi driven by 30-year-old Cody Snyder of Indiana. The crash reconstruction team is investigating the crash.
*UPDATED* September 24, 2024, Press Release from the Mercer County Sheriff's Office: Mercer County Sheriff Jeff Grey reports that his office is investigating a fatal traffic crash that occurred this morning, September 24, 2024. Mercer County Central Dispatch received a call 9-1-1 call at 5:03 AM of a traffic crash on Us Rte 127, north of Dutton Rd in Dublin Township.
The investigation revealed that Travis S Fox (49) of Mendon, OH was driving a 2010 dark blue Chevy van, traveling north on Us Rte 127. Cody L Snyder (30) of Seymour, IN, was traveling southbound in a 2015 white Freightliner semi-tractor and trailer. For an unknown reason, Fox traveled left of center, striking Snyder. Mr. Fox was pronounced dead at the scene.
Assisting at the scene were members of the Rockford Fire Department, Rockford EMS, Celina EMS, and MCERV.
The Mercer County Sheriff’s Office Crash Reconstruction Team was called to the scene. This crash remains under investigation at this time and will be forwarded to the Mercer County Prosecutor’s Office for review.
