June 17, 2024, Press Release from the Ohio State Highway Patrol: Defiance - The Ohio State Highway Patrol's Defiance Post is investigating an injury crash involving a commercial vehicle and a passenger car. The crash occurred at approximately 5:15 p.m. on Monday, June 17, 2024. The crash was located at the intersection of Mansfield Road and Schubert Road.

Eugene Anderson, age 45, of Gary, Indiana, was westbound on Mansfield Rd. Mr. Anderson was driving a 2007 Volvo with a flatbed trailer. Mr. Anderson failed to stop at a stop sign and struck a 2011 Chevrolet Malibu that was traveling north on Schubert Rd. The Chevrolet was driven by Braxton Wolff, age 17, of Continental, Ohio. After impact, the Chevrolet caught fire on the roadside.

Mr. Anderson was transported from the scene by Ayersville EMS to Promedica Defiance Regional Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Braxton Wolff was transported from the scene by Defiance EMS and taken to Promedica Defiance Regional Hospital with serious injuries. His passenger, Brenden Wolff, age 21, of Continental, Ohio, was flown from the scene by Mercy Life Flight to St. Vincent's in Toledo with serious injuries.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol was assisted by the Defiance County Sheriff's Office, Ayersville (Highland Township) Fire Department, Defiance Fire Department, and John's Towing. 

The crash remains under investigation.
