Delphos residents woke up Monday morning seeing a lot more red white and blue around the city.
The Optimist Club put out 400 flags Monday morning as part of their Avenue of Flags Fundraiser. For the fifth year now, businesses and residents pay the club to put out the flags for Memorial Day, Flag Day, 4th of July, Labor Day, Patriot Day and Veterans Day. Even though this is a fundraiser for the Delphos Optimist Club, the Avenue of Flags project is designed to demonstrate the patriotic spirit within the community.
Delphos Optimist Club's Harry Tolhurst says that other Ohio Optimist Clubs are doing the Avenue of Flags project and says that there will be 50 thousand flags flying around Ohio.
