Faith and entertainment at the Allen County Fair's gospel tent

For 38 years the gospel tent at the Allen County Fair has been providing faith and fellowship to fairgoers.

The gospel tent brings in acts from around the area and around the country to perform at the fair and thanks to over 500 donors, the concerts are free for the public. The groups are usually bluegrass gospel acts, but this year they have been trying to add more humor and variety to the shows. But no matter who is performing, the gospel tent could be a great place to rest and reconnect with your faith.

“Some people need to come in and just relax, they’re hurting. Maybe they need to hear the word or a song or something. It gives them a chance just to get away from the world. And others come in because they want the entertainment and that’s OK too,” said Gene Derringer, Head of the Gospel Tent.

If you haven't checked it out, there are four more shows left. "The Ball Brothers" will perform Wednesday evening, "The Lima Beane Barbershop Chorus" will take the stage on Thursday, "The Triumphant Quartet" on Friday, and the local band "Easy and Company" will wrap up the week. All shows start at 7 p.m. in the gospel tent.
