With all eyes on the COVID-19 pandemic the past two years, health officials are urging people to remember their heart health.
February is Heart Month and the Lima Rotary Club got to have a question-and-answer session with a local cardiologist. Doctor Pamela Gardner with Lima Memorial Health System talking about a few new procedures they are able to do and to be preemptive if there is heart disease in your family. If you show any signs of a heart attack do not wait, call 9-1-1 immediately.
Cardiologist Dr. Pamela Gardner adds, “Any kind of discomfort that comes on when you do something, goes away when you rest. That pattern. It can be in your chest, but also can be in your neck, your jaw, between you shoulder blades. Or like your arms arms getting heavy that sort of thing. Especially if you’re doing something and it goes away when you stop. Get short of breath with it, maybe a little sick to your stomach. I need to that and you probably need to be seen in the emergency room.”
Gardner stresses not to drive yourself to the hospital. If you are having a heart attack, emergency responders will be able to start treating you as soon as they get on scene.
