FINDLAY, Ohio (WLIO) — Kids at the Findlay-Hancock Public Library rang in the new year a little early Wednesday.

The library celebrated its annual “Noon Year’s Eve,” giving kids and families a chance to celebrate without staying up until midnight. Children made memory boxes for the new year, listened to stories and counted down to a balloon drop at noon. Library staff say the event has been a longtime tradition and continues to grow each year as families look for safe and fun ways to celebrate New Year’s Eve.

Findlay library hosts “Noon Year’s Eve” celebration for kids

“Every year we invite the kids to come in. They can wear their party gear. We do a little craft activity, we read some stories, and then the big thing is we count down to noon. For all the families who might not be ready to stay up till midnight, they can still have that New Year’s Eve celebration, have fun together at a reasonable time of the day,” said Brittany Lutes, youth services manager at the Findlay-Hancock Public Library.

The library will also celebrate the new year by kicking off its winter reading program beginning Jan. 5. More information is available on the library’s website at findlaylibrary.org.
