A former Lima Central Catholic student is sharing the story of her journey to success in a new book co-authored with Morning Joe co-host Mika Brzezinski.
The book Earn it!: Know Your Value and Grow Your Career, in Your 20s and Beyond "step-by-step" career guide aimed at young women.
In it, Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) recipient Daniela Pierre-Bravo shares her story on how she overcame living as an undocumented immigrant in Lima to pay her way through college and find a career for herself working in national media. Currently, a booking producer for MSNBC's Morning Joe, Pierre-Bravo had to take initiative and be ambitious to reach her goals, something she says many young women struggle with.
"One in four young women are actually comfortable getting that first foot in the door," said Pierre-Bravo. "For a lot of us, it's a struggle and for me, living in the middle of Ohio, I didn't have the greatest access to the job opportunities that I wanted. Nobody was going to pave this path for me and it was really up to me to work hard to be really creative about how to get the career that I wanted and that's really the message for all young people out there."
