Four Lima men charged after police uncover dog fighting ring; seven dogs rescued

UPDATE: 10/23/25 - Charges have been dropped against the four suspects and they have been released from Allen County Jail, according to the Allen County Jail's website.

LIMA, Ohio (WLIO) – Four Lima men are facing charges after officers uncovered a dog fighting ring Wednesday night.

Investigators carried out a search at 112 West Sixth St. in Lima, where they say they found clear evidence of an active dog fighting operation.

Officers rescued seven dogs believed to have been used in fights.

Four suspects are now charged with dog fighting and animal cruelty: 33-year-old Ronell Rogers, 35-year-old Jermaine Jones, 30-year-old Cameron Bailey, and 29-year-old Lamontae Jackson, all from Lima.

Police also recovered a handgun, suspected narcotics and other items they believe are tied to dog fighting.

“This investigation will continue, but the amount of cruelty that was going on to those animals is just completely unacceptable, and we were really happy that we were able to rescue those dogs and get people in custody for that horrible crime,” said Lima Police Chief Curtis Hile.

The investigation is ongoing.

LIMA, Ohio - On October 22, 2025, a search warrant was conducted at the residence 112 W. Sixth Street in Lima, Ohio. Once at the residence, officers discovered a dog fighting operation. This investigation revealed the following four people involved: Ronell Rogers (33), Jermaine Jones (35), Cameron Bailey (30), and LaMontae Jackson (29). They were arrested and charged with Dog Fighting and Animal Cruelty.

Officers also recovered several pieces of evidence related to dog fighting, a small amount of suspected narcotics, and one handgun. Seven dogs were rescued. The Lima Police Department Officers were also assisted by the Allen County Dog Warden. This investigation is ongoing.
