LIMA, OH (WLIO) - It has been around since the late 1940s, providing inspiration and education for girls of all ages, and another season is about to start.
The Girl Scouts of Western Ohio is looking for any young ladies in kindergarten to fifth grade who are not currently involved in Girl Scouts to participate in their day camp at Camp Woodhaven off Robb Avenue. It will run Tuesday, June 4th, through Thursday, June 6th. This year's theme is "The Sky is the Limit," and they will be learning about space, the sky, and how it all relates to Planet Earth.
Organizers are encouraging parents to sign up their daughters for this opportunity.
"Things that you learn there are instrumental. We're teaching them observation skills; we put them out in nature; we guide them out in nature. We let them play, have fun, and they're learning all along the way. You're going to have a good time, no matter what. You're going to meet a friend, you're going to make a friendship bracelet, you can't have a bad time at camp when you're outside having snacks and making SWAPS," said Stephanie Kasza, community development team leader.
There is no charge for the three-day camp, thanks to the generosity of their donors. You are asked to register your child at gswo.org/skycamp and select Central Region and Camp Woodhaven. Again, the camp starts next Tuesday, June 4th.
