OXFORD, OH (WLIO) - Three Republicans vying for the chance to take on incumbent Sherrod Brown for a U.S. Senate seat debating for a third and final time last night.
State Senator Matt Dolan, businessman Bernie Moreno, and Ohio Secretary of State Frank LaRose, taking the stage at Miami University. All of the candidates got a chance to address questions ranging from abortion and gun rights, to how they would secure the U.S. border.
"I am the only one in this race who called for securing and sealing the border which means we are temporarily closing the border to immigration because we need to build the wall we need to get technology we need to give our border patrol more authority to react. we need to get remain in Mexico in place," stated Matt Dolan, (R) Oh-24th Senate District/U.S. Senate Republican Primary candidate.
"We must make it clear if you are here illegally, you will be deported and there will be no amnesty of any kind. That means a lifetime ban on citizenship, a lifetime ban on birthright citizenship, and no access to any form of government benefits for the entirety of your life if you come into this country illegally," stated Frank LaRose, (R) Ohio Secretary of State/U.S. Senate Republican Primary candidate.
"If you cross into the country illegally, you are immediately returned, you aren't arrested, you're not detained you just immediately returned and you forfeit your right to make an asylum claim for life, if you come through a legal channel and you claim asylum you wait in the previous country weather that's Mexico or Canada," stated Bernie Moreno, U.S. Senate Republican Primary candidate.
Ohio Republicans will vote on their choice on Primary Day, March 19th. That winner will face incumbent Senator Democrat Sherrod Brown in November.
