LIMA, OH (WLIO) - The We Care Regional Crisis Center is going to be able to help more people with a new addition that is under construction.
The Mental Health and Recovery Services Board of Allen, Auglaize, and Hardin Counties and Coleman Health Services officially broke ground on the expansion.
The Mental Health and Recovery Services Board of Allen, Auglaize, and Hardin Counties and Coleman Health Services officially broke ground on the expansion, located at 797 S. Main Street, Lima, OH, which will add nine beds to their facility. This means this area will have transitional housing for people dealing with mental health and addiction issues that can continue their recovery before heading back into the community.
"Right now, if you are no longer in need of hospitalization or in need of our Crisis Stabilization Center, you oftentimes have to go out into the community to get that extended care. So, we are so grateful to be able to have it right here so families can remain involved in their loved ones' care and individuals are not in a foreign environment that is unfamiliar to them. So, it's an amazing addition to the crisis work we have been doing," says Tammie Colon, executive director of the Mental Health and Recovery Services Board of Allen, Auglaize, and Hardin Counties.
The addition is expected to be completed in October of 2025.
Governor Mike DeWine has made expanding mental health and addiction services in Ohio a top priority. The Lima expansion project is just one that Coleman's is part of around the state.
"We don't always do a good job creating a safety net for individuals when they are at their lowest points. These investments really allow us to make sure that we are able to provide that wrap-around care. But also to provide it when they need it the most, and also to make sure they are getting specialized treatment that they need and to be in a supportive, safe environment," says Hattie Tracy, president & CEO of Coleman Health Services.
The addition is expected to be completed in October of 2025.
