Hancock County Republican Lincoln Day Dinner

A state official made his way to a local are city this evening.

The St. Mark's United Methodist Church in Findlay hosted the annual Hancock County Republican Lincoln Day Dinner. Shortly after dinner was served, Auditor for the state of Ohio, David Yost, delivered a speech attributing his success as Auditor to his father. One might say the word "success" does not do Yost's work justice, however. Since 2011, Yost has accumulated approximately $220 million in efficiency savings. Also, he has helped turn more than 100 public officials into convicted criminals after identifying nearly $22 million in stolen or misspent tax money.

Yost hopes to continue to "skinny down" government spending as he runs for Attorney General in 2018. He explains, "Every job I've ever has has been about fighting for right. Whether it's criminal matters I handled as a prosecutor, or fighting for public integrity like I do right now as your state auditor, I think I'm ideally suited to go into the Attorney General's office and continue that fight."

As a former underdog himself, Yost hopes to stand up against corruption and inefficient spending in government.
