Lima park rangers say that there are areas of non-frozen water and where it looks frozen may not be thick enough to be safe. They ask the public to stay off of the ice at all city-owned properties for safety reasons.

"The ice may not be thick enough, we caution even our ice fishermen that are out on the reservoirs and other places out there to make sure that we have the proper thickness so that we don't end up doing a rescue of an individual that was just trying to go out and do something recreational and ended up being a life saving event," said Randy Kohli, City of Lima Chief Park Ranger.

Kohli says they will announce when the ice is safe enough to go on.
