COLUMBUS, OH (WLIO) - Ohio has a boom of new jobs coming to the state, and the governor is looking for the skilled workforce to fill them and he believes it starts right here.
Mike DeWine telling Your News Now that he wishes that every Ohioan lives up to their full potential in 2023. He says the state is offering programs for adults and high school students to help get them ready for the thousands of jobs that Ohio has and will have in the future. Whether is working through career centers or colleges to give them the training needed for these jobs or eliminate the obstacles in the way.
"It is giving everybody, whatever their age to live that dream and to remove the barrier," says DeWine. "A barrier can be mental health. There could be a mental health problem that is not being treated, you can't get help for it. That is a barrier that slows people down. That is my wish that everyone lives up to their full potential."
One way that young Ohioans could be doing that is through the books sent to them through the Dolly Parton Imagination Library. Ohio kids from birth to 5 years old get more books from the library than any other state in the country.
