JCPenney to close in Findlay and St. Marys

A major retailer's store closures will have an impact on the region here in West Central Ohio.

JCPenney announced that industry challenges have led to the planned closing of 138 department stores across the country, including those locally in Findlay and St. Marys. According to JCPenney's CEO, Marvin Ellison, by decreasing their footprint, the number of closures will allow the retailer to raise the brand standard.

Around five thousand employees will lose their current positions with JCPenney. Some of those being displaced will receive transfer opportunities to others locations, others will not.
