LIMA (WLIO) - As we continue to experience the cold winter weather outside, how about taking some time to stay inside and unwind and have a little fun during the winter season.

In Lima, the Johnny Appleseed Metropolitan Park District hosted a free and open-to-the-public Winter Party over at the Environmental Education Center Wednesday evening. Those that were in attendance had an option of choosing between several winter-themed craft stations that were provided and on full display at the event. While the participants created their masterpieces, they had a little bit of company on their side, as the metropolitan park had some little critters on hand there to accompany them during the workshop.

"We have some nature crafts, and we have people making Acorn necklaces made out of natural materials. We got bird feeder making with a Pinecone and Peanut Butter and seeds. We have all kinds of different crafts and activities to do, and of course, the wonderful animals are here for everyone to see. I love being able to have the community come and get out of the cold for a little while, but still active and engaging with nature in some way together," added Marie Walton, Naturalist for the Johnny Appleseed Metropolitan Park District.
