LIMA, OH (WLIO) - The Johnny Appleseed Metropolitan Park District is playing off the fascination kids have with bugs.
It was "Bugs Galore" at Tuesday's day camp for children ages 7 to 9 hosted by the park district. Children were able to take time to examine different types of preserved insects and put together bug puzzles. The camp offers hands-on activities to promote understanding and responsibility to nature. While the kids just see it as fun parents see it as a creative learning experience.
"My kids have been involved with the Johnny Appleseed Park District since they were 3," said Amanda Makley. "We attended Nature Pals, we do all the day camps during the summer and we go to the different libraries around the community for their programs. My kids love it and my favorite part is it's a hands-on experience. They don't just have the kids sitting at a table."
The Bugs Galore day camp continues through Thursday.
