Local community gardeners and LACNIP will be inviting the public out to see the success of their hard work. Lima Allen County Neighborhoods in Partnership will be hosting an open house at the Spring Street Community Garden on July 13th. The event is called “Jewels in the Garden” and it will not only showcase the efforts of community gardens but there will be free food tasting of some of the produce that comes from it. Also at the event, you could purchase handcrafted items to help support the community garden.
“We’ve had a partnership with ArtSpace were ceramic pots were created. They have been pared with jewelry and handmade scarfs, beautiful things. So, this is going to be done to raise funds so the garden can be successful next year,” says Amy Sackman Odum, LACNIP.
The “Jewels in the Garden” open house is this Wednesday from 4 to 7 pm at the Spring Street Community Garden at the corner of Spring and Collett Streets. The event is free and for more information Visit the LACNIP Community Gardens Facebook page.
