For the first time, sponsors and donors of the Lake of Lights were welcomed to walk along the drive-thru path and see the entire trail, including 15 new displays this year. The money raised from ticket sales every Christmas season is split up between all of the organizations whose members volunteer at the ticket booth, like high school marching bands, churches, and non-profits. Last year, more than $8,000 were put back into the community.

The goal of the display is both to fund good causes and create one-of-a-kind holiday memories.

"I can just hear the kids, 'Wow look at that! Oooh lookie there! There's the Grinch, there's Santa Claus, there's this!' You can feel the excitement of the younger people in the town when they're coming through," said George Wyndham, the chairman of Lake of Lights.

The Lake of Lights will be open to the public every day from 6 pm to 9 pm starting this Friday until December 31st. To see dates for special events like live nativity scenes and horse-drawn carriage rides, visit their Facebook page. Entry to the display is $5 per car.
