Lima City Council Discussing Mayor's Pay

Lima City Council held a special finance committee meeting Tuesday evening. Tempers began to flare discussing the topic of the mayor's salary.

The mayor is currently receiving a salary of over 130,000 dollars a year, a salary rate higher than most mayors in the state of Ohio. Past council set a formula in 1998 creating a yearly 3 percent increase in the elected officials pay which brought it to what it is today. As a result council has voted to continue the formula freeze to prevent future increases. The committee is working on getting the mayors pay comparable to other municipalities if possible.

There will be another committee meeting on the issue October 17th.
