March 28, 2024 Press Release from Lima City Schools: The preschool programs at all four Lima City Schools’ elementary buildings have maintained their Step Up To Quality (SUTQ) 5-Star Ratings. It is the highest rating possible.
The district has preschool programs at Freedom, Heritage, Independence and Unity Elementary Schools. All four recently went through the state inspection to continue as 5-Star Rated programs.
SUTQ is a five-star quality rating and improvement system administered by the Ohio Department of Children and Youth and the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services. It recognizes and promotes learning and development programs that meet quality program standards that exceed licensing, health and safety regulations.
The program standards are based on national research identifying standards which lead to improved outcomes for children.
The Lima City Schools’ preschool program is curriculum-based and highly focused on education and preparing children for kindergarten. Teachers are focused on academics daily as well as social and emotional development.
