The Veterans Memorial Civic and Convention Center board named a new Chief Executive Officer. Abe Ambroza will take over after former director Cindy Wood officially resigns next week.
Ambroza has a background in management, sales, marketing, and sports entertainment. He is familiar with the area and graduated from Columbus Grove High School. He has worked at Ohio State Lima since 2007 where he served as the First Year Experience Coordinator and Baseball coach.
Ambroza says he will complete his season at OSU Lima while getting acquainted to work with the Civic Center. "I want to get in here though and get started, and find out who everybody is here, how they do their job, and what their visions are, and really work with the staff that we have here to get the Civic Center to continue going in the right direction," said Ambroza.
According to a press release Ambroza worked for the Detroit Lions and Detroit Tigers in sales and box office operations. He also worked in New York City with K&L Field Marketing and for GE Financial. Following that he worked for the Professional Bowlers Association as marketing coordinator.
Ambroza officially starts his new position on May 10th. He will be in and out of the Civic Center starting April 18th.
