LIMA, Ohio (WLIO) — Lima Community Church offered children and their families a fun and meaningful way to celebrate Easter over the weekend.
The church hosted its “Bunny Trail” event for kids through fifth grade and their families, to help them experience the story of Easter. The trail started with the story of Jesus, beginning with his journey into Jerusalem, continuing through the Last Supper and his death on the cross, and concluding with his resurrection three days later.
Following the worship service, children collected treats as they moved along the Bunny Trail. Church leaders say they hope families leave with a deeper understanding of the holiday’s significance.
“We want families to know the Easter is about much more than just the Easter Bunny and collecting goodies, but it is about God and how much he loves you, and that He sent Jesus to die for our sins, and that he rose again, and we're here to celebrate today. I hope they take away just how much they are loved and they're welcomed and accepted, and that God loves them,” says Pam Little, Director of Children's Ministry, Lima Community Church.
In addition to the trail, children also had the opportunity to take photos with the Easter Bunny.
