LIMA, OHIO (WLIO) - The City of Lima and the West Central Ohio Community Partnership are teaming up to walk people through the steps of owning their own home.
There were lenders available to talk about the mortgage approval process and insurance providers to talk about protecting their investment.
Saturday was the City of Lima 1st Homebuyer Workshop meeting for people to get information about the steps and possible assistance available for them to buy their home. There were lenders available to talk about the mortgage approval process and insurance providers to talk about protecting their investment. Mayor Sharetta Smith has made home ownership one of her priorities for the city, and they have programs that can help people get money towards a downpayment or closing cost on a future home.
“The City of Lima has a downpayment assistance program that we offer. So, we are here sharing how to get started with that. Along with WOCAP, who is our partner in the housing council portion, to take classes. It’s something that we plan to do quarterly, just to get the information out and share with the community what we are up to so that we can move the process along for homebuying. We want to try and make that process very easy. We want them to leave here knowing that we are here for them and the process is much easier than what they think,” says Carmillia Zion, Dir. of Lima’s Housing and Neighborhoods.
If you would like more information about the City of Lima’s assistance program, you can find information on their website under the Housing and Neighborhood tab.
