Lima looking to gain a new Sister City

The City of Lima is taking its first steps to creating a new sister city relationship with the city of Varanasi, India.

Two video conferences between officials in Lima and Varanasi have already been held over the last two months. Varanasi is a city that sits on the Ganges River and is excited to work with the city of Lima to learn more about the American way of life. The city of Lima looks forward to learning more about Varanasi's history.

The two cities hope to achieve three major areas of opportunity between them: "We agreed to pursue three ideas: cultural exchange, educational exchange, and business exchange," said Dr. Suman Mishr, a member of the delegation working to unite the two cities.  "We started out wanting a bigger delegation, but right now it was decided just to have a business delegation from Lima."

A number of Lima representatives will be visiting Varanasi in late January.
