LIMA, OH (WLIO) - They have been exchanging cultural, educational, and business ideas for many years, with this year being a special milestone.

Lima Sister Cities Association hits 25-year milestone

Both adults and students from both cities have had the privilege to experience life in the other sister city community.

It has been 25 years since the City of Lima and Harimo-cho, Japan, signed an agreement to become sister cities. Since 1999, more than 300 people have participated in cultural exchanges. Both adults and students from both cities have had the privilege to experience life in the other sister city community. There will be several special guests at this year's celebration.

It has been 25 years since the City of Lima and Harimo-cho, Japan, signed an agreement to become sister cities.

"We have a couple city government members coming to attend this event, and on their tour of Lima, we're going to visit our industry sector, our local downtown community, small businesses, as well as some of our higher education establishments," said Matthew Neeley, president of the Lima Sister City Association.

They will also be having a clean-up day on Saturday, October 12, 2024, starting at 10 a.m. at the Japanese Garden.

The dinner is Tuesday, October 22, 2024, at the City Club (144 S. Main St. 3rd Floor Ballroom Lima OH 45801). Tickets are only $15 a person. They will also be having a clean-up day on Saturday, October 12, 2024, starting at 10 a.m. at the Japanese Garden (202 W Eureka St, Lima, OH 45804). They are looking for volunteers for this day and ask that you bring your own rakes and gloves.
