Lima, OH (WLIO) - The young delegates from Lima are taking the first steps in preparing for a trip to our Sister City in Japan.
The Lima Sister Cities Association took time at their meeting Wednesday night to introduce the 2023 youth trip delegates to Harima-Cho, Japan. Some delegates who would have visited Japan in the canceled 2020 trip will also be going to Harima-Cho next summer. The students come from different schools, such as Shawnee, Bluffton, or even homeschooling programs, but they all share an interest in learning about other cultures.
"I've always been interested in Japan, and Asia in general, and Europe, and I've always wanted to go. I think that it's just really fun and it would be a good thing on my resume as well," said Cali Risner, a freshman at Lima Central Catholic.
"They have a lot of skyscrapers, like a lot of skyscrapers. They have a lot of bullet trains. I'm very excited to ride the bullet trains because I want to grow up to be a mechanical engineer," said Gage Edwards, a sophomore from Shawnee High School.
The youth trip delegates will have several orientation meetings to learn about etiquette and culture to prepare before they leave for Japan in June of 2023.
