The Lima Striders are asking for the community's help after their track and field equipment was stolen.
Head Coach Chris Jackson says the track and field team's trailer was in Grove City this month to be painted, when they discovered it went missing over night. Columbus Police located the trailer, with the Lima Fire Department displayed on the sides, in a church parking lot the next morning, but all the contents had been stolen.
Jackson says they lost all their track equipment, uniforms, golf cart, coolers, and other donated items, totaling about $8,000.
Now they're hoping to recover as much equipment as they can before the start of the indoor season in January. "We're just in the process of trying to rebuild, we do a lot in the community and for our young people, so it's kind of a dagger to the heart, it hurts kind of bad that someone would steal the trailer, and once they opened it and the realized what was in it that they would remove all those items," said Head Coach Chris Jackson.
