LPD and Lima Noon Optimists putting together huge Trunk and Treat event at Safety City

LIMA, OH (WLIO) - It's anticipated to be the biggest "Trick and Trunk" in the area.

The Lima Police Department and the Lima Noon Optimist Club are joining forces to make sure kids across the region have a safe and fun place to get candy this Halloween. Each has held their own event, but this year they would have been on the same day, so it made sense to combine the two. They are looking at up to 80 businesses and organizations participating in handing out goodies to the youngsters.

The Trunk and Treat will be on Saturday, October 26, 2024, from noon until 2 p.m. at Safety City. Collett Street will be closed from North Shore Drive to Kibby Street to through traffic. You are asked to park at Bradfield Center, Encore Theatre, the Red Cross, Hover Park, Collett Street tennis courts, and the Central Services lot. 

"It's something new; it's a collaboration between the Lima Noon Optimist Club, which the police department always had a partnership with. We have officer Eric Mericle, who is our Safety City Officer, so we've always had that partnership with the Lima Noon Optimist Club, and we just kind of felt that was something we could make a really big event and something amazing in our Lima community," said Matt Douglass, Lima Police Department.

The Allen County RTA will be running a shuttle service with the trolley from the parking lots to Safety City.
