A string of mail thefts has hit Northwest Ohio.
According to the Van Wert Sheriff's Office, several calls have come in within the last ten days, reporting mail being stolen out of mailboxes. Officials say the perpetrators can be targeting checks and other personal information. It is reported that the thefts have stretched throughout Northwest Ohio and into counties in Indiana. Officials said there is no specific time the crime is occurring in the day. The sheriff's office is working with the postal inspector and other agencies while they conduct an investigation.
Sheriff Thomas Riggenbach suggests contacting your local law enforcement if you notice any suspicious activity.
