Ticket sales are on the rise as the jackpots for Mega Millions and Powerball combine to be $1 million short of a billion.
Mega Millions has climbed to $654 million while the Powerball is up to $345 million both scheduled to be drawn Tuesday and Wednesday respectively. Cindy Reames of Fat Jack's Pizza said she sees people buying a higher quantity of tickets when jackpots get this high. According to Allstate, there is a 1 in 259 million chance to win Mega Millions and one in 292 to win Powerball. Yet ticket sales seem to go up especially on the day of a drawing.
"Oh they really go up then because people realize it's the last minute and they want to get it in there before time runs out," said Reames. "So it gets a little crazy but like I said they're all nice, they're all good. They buy whatever amount they want and I hope they win."
According to Allstate the chances to win both jackpots, one in 75 quadrillion.
