Mercy Health St. Rita's thanked their healthcare leaders for their hard work over the past two years.
Today(3/30/22) is National Doctors Day, and the celebration saw the hospital hand out gift bags containing a desk organizer to doctors.
"Our patient care and our patient focus is so important to us, so obviously having that group of physicians to support our patients is very important to us," said Jill Jacobs, Chief Operating Officer at the hospital. "We have that team that surrounds them and it's very important. So obviously on a day like today we want to recognize them for all they do."
And doctors that received the gifts were thankful for the gesture.
"It's been a rough couple of years here recently," said Dr. Ryan Schwieterman, Internal Medicine Physician. "And so it really means a lot to know that people appreciate everything that we are doing... there have been plenty of physicians that have put in long long hours, a lot of time away from home, trying to help support the health of our communities."
The gifts were handed out throughout the day at the hospital.
