More than 500 First Year Students Move In at UNOH

More than 500 first year students pile onto the University of Northwestern Ohio campus for move in day, a process that took weeks of planning.

"We've got to get them in for orientation, and we've got to get them acclimated to campus, and we've got to get them moved in, and that's what we're doing this weekend," said Pat Finnerty, Director of Housing at UNOH.

It's the school's job to make this campus feel like home for these freshmen coming from 24 different states, and even Saudi Arabia.

"So we need to make them comfortable, we need to do our part to get them acclimated to the University so that they can start classes on Monday morning," said Finnerty.

Austin Smith and his father made the haul from Indiana Friday morning, saying it hasn't been the easiest day.

"Just a lot of things you've got to get and things you don't think about, and many trips to the store," said Dan Smith, Austin's dad.

"He's my chauffeur, I've been sleeping, so he's the one that's driving me home," said Austin Smith, a freshman at UNOH.

But the hassle is worth the experience.

"It's exciting but emotional at the same time," said Dan Smith.

"It was the only college that I really preferred that had my ag equipment that I wanted to do," said Austin Smith.

For these newcomers, moving in is just the first step to four years of growing and learning.

"Each student is going to take that challenge on as their individual self, and we're going to be here to help them through that process and make it an exciting process to watch them go through until graduation," said Finnerty.
