The Lima Chapter of the NAACP on Wednesday took time to learn more about an upcoming project in downtown Lima.

The Central District aims to bring workspaces, flats, creative studios, makerspace, shops, a dog park, and more to the downtown area. On Wednesday, leaders for the district hosted the NAACP Lima Chapter in order to showcase the types of opportunities coming to the area.

The chapter states that they were impressed to learn more about the project, and like that it aims to be all-inclusive. Overall, they say that the project is a major step in getting youth to stay in the area.
"Our encouragement to our kids would be grow up and get out... It was never grow up and stay," said Ron Fails, President of the NAACP Lima Chapter. "Because there was never an example for them to accept that 'there is a place for me if I stay'. I think these kinds of initiatives begin to address that so that going forward to create opportunities."
