Nationwide alert test to be conducted on October 4th

LIMA, OH (WLIO) - The Federal Emergency Management Agency will be conducting a nationwide alert test this Wednesday for broadcast and wireless devices.

Nationwide alert test to be conducted on October 4th

In our area, the test will happen around 2:20 in the afternoon. You will see alerts on your television and hear them on your radio. The test will also be transmitted on your cell phones. The purpose of the test is to ensure that the system is working to effectively warn the public in the event of immediate threats, Amber Alerts, or presidential alerts. Cell phone users should receive the message only once and will read "This is a test of the system and no action is needed". This will be only the second nationwide test for all cellular devices. The test for television and radio should last about one minute that day.
