Nearly 1.7 million Ohioans have voted early. Around 941,000 of those are in person. 1.1 million Ohioans have requested absentee ballots, and nearly two-thirds have been returned. That return rate for absentee ballots tends to be higher in our area. Hancock tops that list at 74%, followed closely by Hardin and Logan at 73%, and then Mercer and Van Wert counties at 72%. One local county stands out though; only 41% of the 10,000 Allen County voters who requested an absentee ballot have returned those.

If mailed, absentee ballots must be postmarked by the day before the election in order to be counted. You can also return them in person to your county board of elections before the polls close at 7:30 p.m. on Election Day.
