A friendly competition between schools will feed hundreds if not thousands in the region.
Nearly 30 thousand cans of food were collected by five schools in nine days in the first Food for February Drive sponsored by HCF Management. Students teamed up with a local non-profit that has a food pantry and organized a food drive. The outcome was extraordinary as students found out they can make a difference in their community.
Apollo won with just under 20,000 cans of food collected which was the equivalent of nearly 35 cans per student. Then it was Temple Christian, Shawnee, Spencerville and Wapakoneta in that order. Organizers say they'll make the drive an annual event.
