ALLEN COUNTY, OH (WLIO) - Nutrien is looking to build a new storage facility.
The warehouse will be built on Fort Shawnee Industrial Drive, where they currently have a rail staging area.
They took the proposal to the Allen County Board of Commissioners. The warehouse will be built on Fort Shawnee Industrial Drive, where they currently have a rail staging area. The facility will be used to house parts and other materials that come in for maintenance work. Their hope is to start construction right away and hope to have it ready to store materials by the end of 2025. They are looking for a 50% tax abatement for the project.

"Our property taxes will go up with this project. It's just they won't go up completely; they will go up half of what they're assessed at. Then at the end of the 10-year term, we'd be paying the full assessment. It helps motivate us as we compete for capital with other Nutrien sites. To be able to show community support for these kinds of investments," said Russ Decker, special projects manager at Nutrien.
