Old Fashioned Farm Days bring history to life

History came alive this weekend at the Allen County Farm Park.

Members of the Area Horse and Harness Club brought their draft horse teams to the park to plow the fields, using old fashioned tractors to get the job done.

The Old Fashioned Farm Days have been a tradition for the last several decades, and the park is one of the last places that hobbyists can plow using horses.  The event is reminiscent of how plowing was done in the past.

"It goes back to the history of our people in our country, in the old days they would get together in the spring to work the fields, they get together in the fall to harvest the crops, it was always a community or regional effort with all the neighbors to get all of the farming done," said Mark Mohr, who is the president of the Area Horse and Harness Club.

Horse owners from several counties participated over the weekend.
