MEDIA RELEASE FROM LIMA POST OF OHIO STATE HIGHWAY PATROL
Lima - The Lima Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating a single vehicle rollover crash that occurred on Interstate 75, near mile post 119, which resulted in life threatening injuries.Â
On December 4, 2023, at approximately 5:50 P.M. troopers received a report of a roll over crash involving one vehicle. A 2010 Ford Focus, operated by Cary J. Hengstler, age 65, of Lima Ohio, was traveling northbound on Interstate 75. Mr. Hengstler traveled off the right side of the roadway, struck a ditch, overturned, and struck a fence before coming to a final rest.
Mr. Hengstler was ejected from the vehicle and transported to Lima Memorial Hospital by Shawnee Township EMS with life-threatening injuries. Mr. Hengstler was reportedly not wearing a seatbelt in this crash.Â
Assisting troopers on scene was Shawnee Township Police Department, Shawnee Township EMS, Shawnee Township Fire Department, and A&D Towing. The crash remains under investigation.
The Ohio State Highway Patrol reminds motorist to designate to always wear a properly adjusted safety belt.
