ST. MARYS, Ohio (WLIO) — Federal workplace safety officials have issued more than $41,000 in fines following the July 31 building collapse in St. Marys.
OSHA cited Todd Klosterman, owner of Pro Fit HVAC, for three serious safety violations. The citations stem from the death of employee Christopher Brown, who was crushed when part of the building's west exterior wall collapsed. His coworker, Kevin Sharp, also suffered multiple fractures.
OSHA says the employees were not properly trained to recognize and avoid unsafe conditions related to demolition and excavation. The agency also found no engineering survey had been conducted to assess floor, wall, or structural collapse risks.
Records show Pro Fit HVAC had four safety violations in 2025, including one in New Knoxville listed as “serious.”
The investigation is ongoing.
