LIMA, OH (WLIO) - Adults and kids alike went to the Allen County Museum on Saturday to learn all about fossils and what they can tell us.
Experts Dr. Mark Kleffner and Dr. Joel Hudley from OSU Lima teamed up with the Allen County Museum and Historical Society for an afternoon full of interactive lessons about dinosaurs, prehistoric sea creatures, plants, and how scientists can use these fossils to determine what an animal was like when it lived.
One lecture, delivered by Dr. Kleffner, focused on life in Allen County back when the region used to be a shallow ocean millions of years ago. Everyone listening had their own fossils they could touch and examine, like corals and a piece of a large squid that could grow up to the length of a telephone pole.
OSU Lima and the museum plan to continue hosting the event every year.
