LIMA, OHIO (WLIO) — Our Daily Bread Soup Kitchen is a place of refuge in downtown Lima, serving more than 3,000 individuals each month.

Visitors come not just for the hot meals but also for the sense of fellowship the faith-based program provides. Each meal begins with a prayer, and the organization offers hygiene items and hot showers to those in need. The kitchen also provides a space for volunteers to give back and connect with others.

Our Daily Bread Soup Kitchen Serves Meals, Fellowship, and Care in Downtown Lima

Visitors come not just for the hot meals but also for the sense of fellowship the faith-based program provides.

“You're sharing a meal with somebody,” said Randy Kimple, director of Our Daily Bread. “You serve them as they go through the line. You see their smiles, you hear their thank you's. I just talked to people as I walked around. I'll sit and eat lunch with somebody on different days and get to know them, just to make them feel like there are people who want to know about them and that they’re important.”

To support its daily operations, Our Daily Bread will hold a chicken barbecue fundraiser catered by Uncle Buck’s Barbeque. The dinner will be drive-through only at Lima Baptist Temple on Brower Road on Saturday, April 26, from 11 am. to 1 pm. Tickets are $12 each and must be purchased in advance at the soup kitchen or on their website, ODBread.org.
