WAPAKONETA, OHIO (WLIO) - The Run to the Moon has a new organizer and a new mission to help those around Auglaize County. The United Way of Auglaize County took over the annual run this year. There were over 500 runners and walkers that took to the streets around Wapakoneta to finish either a 10K, 5K, or one-mile fun run.
Some of the participants came in from states like Michigan, Indiana, and North Carolina to run in the Summer Moon Festival staple.

“So, the United Way helps people,” says Deb Zwez, Ex. Dir. United Way of Auglaize County. “We partner with nonprofit agencies who specialize in programs and services to help our friends, our neighbors, our family members when they need help. So, we focus on financial stability; we focus on health; we focus on education.”
Retired astronaut Carl Walz was on hand to present the runners with their metals when they completed.
