The Bellefontaine Police Department say they are investigating the stabbing death of Tiffany Brown. She's the 26 year old mother of two who went missing last Friday. Her body was found Wednesday night covered by scrap wood. She was partially naked, and she had been stabbed multiple times.
Paperwork has now been filed against Samuel Littleton II. Warrants were issued against him around three o'clock this afternoon for murder, felonious assault, tampering with evidence, and gross abuse of a corpse. The 37 year old became a person of interest in Tiffany Brown's disappearance and resulting death on Wednesday, before her body was even discovered. Police say the main reason he became a person of interest because he kept avoiding interviews with police.
"One reason we're seeking him is because, if he chooses to cooperate, we hope to learn some details from him," said Brad Kunze, Bellefontaine Chief of Police.
Littleton is the boyfriend of Tiffany Brown's mother Deb Neely.
The two lived together on Eastern Avenue in Bellefontaine. It's the same home where Brown's body was discovered hidden in the basement.
The home was searched on Wednesday night after an interview with Deb Neely, who is not a suspect in the case. Officers saw a blood stain on the basement floor, obtained a search warrant, and found the body. Chief Kunze believes Brown was murdered there, but he is waiting on forensic evidence results before confirming the suspicion.
"We don't have a time of death. Nothing I'm aware of would indicate she survived into Saturday," said Kunze.
Police say Littleton was last seen on Wednesday morning.
Several agencies are working alongside the Bellefontaine Police Department on the case including the Logan County Sheriff's Office, the Bureau of Criminal Identification and Investigation, the FBI, and the US Marshall's Office.
