The teen arrested in connection to the fatal March 7th shooting at Meat City, appeared in court Thursday afternoon. Sixteen-year-old Albert McDowell III had his probable cause hearing for the murder of 19-year-old Daveon Petaway. The prosecutors showed surveillance footage of the altercation that night. Detective
Steve Stechshulte identified Petaway in the video striking McDowell and McDowell pulling a gun. Lima patrolman Ben Thompson took the stand and says Petaway identified McDowell as the shooter before he passed away.
Thompson: "The third time I asked him, I told him I said [Daveon] you're going to die we need to know who shot you, and he said Al."
Prosecutor: "And did you respond to that?"
Thompson: "Yes I did. I wanted to clarify who it was. I asked little Al? And he said yes little Al."
Judge Glen Derryberry will make a ruling if there's probable cause to charge McDowell with the murder of Petaway.
