Putnam County Commissioners are giving their input on wind turbine legislation.
Ohio State Senator Rob McColley reached out to the Putnam County Commissioners to get their thoughts on some proposed changes to wind turbine legislation. The Commissioners were working on an agreement with a company to put around 75 turbines near Leipsic but after the distance turbines are required to sit back from the roads changed, the plans stalled. A new proposed bill in the State Senate that deals with wind energy has some changes that look good to the commissioners but there are still questions about the specifics of it all.Â
"We still want to find out, not only I'd like to have the setbacks pretty much identified what they are, if they're exactly what they were before, I want to know that," says Putnam County Commissioner John Love. "I still want to know more about the local control issue. I mean, they call it that, does that include the trustees where the area is or it's strictly the commissioners."
Love says the commissioners will get a chance to read the full proposed legislation before they send a letter voicing their opinion.
