KALIDA, Ohio (WLIO) - A Putnam County man was arrested after barricading himself in his home following a domestic violence call.

Kris Reynolds, 49, is in custody at the Putnam County Jail after a Sunday night incident at his home on Road "L" outside of Kalida.

Just before 6:30 p.m., deputies were called to the home for reports of an irate, intoxicated male. When they arrived, Reynolds barricaded himself inside.

The Putnam County Special Response Team attempted to persuade him to surrender. After four hours of negotiations, officers entered the home and arrested Reynolds without incident.

Information released:  On February 23, 2025 at 6:19 PM the Putnam County Sheriff’s Office received an initial complaint of an irate intoxicated male at 18230 Road L, Ottawa, Ohio.  Sheriff Office Deputies responded and determined the call for service was an active Domestic Violence situation.  The male subject, Kris E. Reynolds, age 49 barricaded himself inside the residence and refused to interact with Deputies.  The Putnam County Special Response Team was activated and responding to the scene.  Negotiation were ongoing for several hours with Mr. Reynolds refusing to exit the residence.  Warrants were obtained, and after approximately 4 hours and a breakdown of negotiations, entry was made into the residence by the Special Response Team to arrest Mr. Reynolds.  He was taken into custody without incident.  Assisting at the scene were the Ohio State Highway Patrol, Kalida E.M.S., Kalida Fire Dept., Putnam County E.M.A., and the Putnam County Sheriff’s Office Drone Operator.

The Special Response Team consists of Officers from the Ottawa Police Department, Glandorf Police Department, Pandora Police Department, and Deputies from the Putnam County Sheriff’s Office.
